After Birth
An edgy television comedy about new moms
Writer and actor Jean Parker debuts After Birth, the story of three smart, urban, 30-something women as they clumsily navigate through motherhood.
The series centers around Maggie Boyle, a struggling actress and new mother of two drooling, gummy, unpredictable creatures she has "come" to love. Maggie's joined by Jill, a lawyer on her maternity leave who feels like she's missed the whole "materal" part of motherhood and Amy, a best friend from highschool who's parenting mantra is "do whatever is necessary to survive".
You won't need to call child services, but you will question some of their choices.
Sandy Marshall from Second City says "After Birth is a funny and fresh take on what it takes to be a working actor while balancing life's unplanned dynamics -- if you've ever been to an audition, you'll laugh out loud, and if you haven't, you'll keep your day job..."
Peneople Corrin from Air Farce writes: "After Birth crackles with honesty and wit. This is the kind of show I want to watch, the kind of writing I want to perform, and reflects the loveable mayhem I want to live. Like watching Bridesmaids, I connect with these best friends, daring to say and do what I always mean to, if only I were more clever. "
Jeremy Birrell from the Jeremy Birrell show calls the show "Shockingly hilarious. A very intimate Polaroid about chasing after our youth, or past versions of ourselves, struggling to evolve."
